Flying Machine

This is one of my favorite drawings. This piece includes a drawing of myself, a corner of the art studio, and a contraption/ machine of my own design. Since I am not all that skilled at drawing myself, I wore a not so form fitting top made of lace and a very floral mesh material. I spent a lot of time on the shirt I have on. I really tried to get it to look real. I'm not so sure about the hair, but its really like that, short and I straighten it so it just kind of feathers out in all directions. I did a pretty good job on the the drawing of myself; considering I hadn't really done any human figure drawing before I did this piece. The corner of the room I chose was relativly empty, but that was ok with me. the big dark thing above the door in the background is the air conditioning for the room. It's so dark because as soon as they put a new filter in, within a week it is black from all the charcoal in the air. It kind of makes you wonder about the air quality. I got the black lung!!!! One wall of the room is made of cinderblocks that are painted white. There wasnt all that much visually, so i tried to enhance the shadows in the cracks to make it stand out. The other wall was pretty barren so i added some cracks. The final piece is the machine I came up with. After digging through all the goodies in the closet I came up with a manechine torso that had just a thigh hanging on it, and some mechanical pieces. So i started off with the manechine sitting on the floor and I put a few wires hanging out of him. And it all just evolved from there. I gave him some mechanical wings, some tubing and wiring, and a little paint schmear of a heart.
